Practice (XMFC-verse)
Sylar waited for Charles out by the old barn where he'd told him they'd meet. To work on his abilities, nothing else.
He wasn't about to let Charles know that he didn't really need help controlling his powers. He could do more with his telekinesis than Charles would want to know about, and now there was the ice. It was a simple power that he'd picked up while Charles had sent him away, but it could be useful.
The power at the base of it all, though. The only one he'd been born with... If it could be controlled, he didn't want to know how.

"Sylar," he said, giving him a short nod.

"That was terrible, never attempt it again. Please."

"Aside from the bunker, that is, but Alex likes to practice down there and, well, wood burns," Charles continued, pushing open the doors.

"You're going to show me what you can do."

Sylar stepped back from Charles and held up his hand, then paused. "I hope this barn isn't important to you." He grit his teeth, focusing. He pointed toward one wall. The wood splintered and a chunk of the wall suddenly flew out into the grass outside. He lifted the splinters and hurled them into another wall, embedding them deep.
His concentration was broken by a scratching above in the rafters. "Maybe something a little more delicate." He motioned, and a mouse floated down, squeaking, but unable to move. He suspended it in the air between them. Its eyes were frantic, but Sylar just smiled at it.

"Extraordinary," he breathed, withdrawing his hand.

"Fascinating."

"Yes? There's only so much one can do with ice."

Besides, it got boring, controlling one person constantly. This was much more fun.
"Do that," Charles murmured, shivering slightly at the touch.
